Rev Emmanuel Ndagijimana
Peace and Conflict Transformation Training 2024/2025

During the training, I learned a lot that would help me to make peace as I live in this planet. In this course, I learnt the method and ways of reducing the conflicts. I am able to maintain peace where there is no peace and I also restore it where there is conflict.
As a Christian, I realized that to bring peace is my responsibility. I have to make sure that it is possible to do that. During the journey in the training, I met with several challenges like black out, the network problem even lack of the data for internet.
So far I have met several cases that I tried to handle; one was of a couple, I talked with them and now they are doing well. The other one was between a mother and her son, they were in differences, they couldn’t greet one another, but now they live in peace.
I can confirm that this training is very helpful. On my side, I am thinking on how to gather people so that we may train them about Peace and conflict management. I will be part of the team of peacemakers, although we still have some financial challenges.
I appreciate those who have trained us, our classmates too.
May God bless Jean Bosco and Oscar among other trainers very much.

🌿 A Personal Reflection

I’m delighted to share my journey with you. Like many of you, I’ve been deeply troubled by the state of global affairs: the war in Ukraine, the humanitarian crisis in Gaza, and ongoing conflicts across Africa and Asia. These tragedies stirred something within me. While I know this training won’t directly end these wars, asking myself, “Is there anything I can do?” led me to this course. Looking back, it has truly been a divine blessing.

🕊️ The Experience

Attending three-hour evening sessions on weekdays wasn’t always easy, especially after full days at work. Yet, every minute of the 80+ hours invested brought immense value—more than I can fully convey in words.

What made it worthwhile?

Inspirational Community: The instructors, facilitators, and fellow participants were phenomenal—each contributing to a vibrant and supportive learning environment.

Spiritual Reawakening: The course reconnected me with the Bible and gave me a heartfelt reason to return to church. It reminded me how essential the spiritual dimension is in our lives.

Personal Insights: Through insightful assessment tools, I became aware of my own responses to conflict and learned practical techniques to manage and improve them.

Conflict De-escalation Skills: I discovered how conflicts escalate in stages and how crucial it is to intervene early to prevent harm.

Coaching Synergy: Having earned a coaching qualification prior to this program, I was surprised by the overlap—skills like active listening and mindful communication proved equally powerful in conflict transformation.

🌱 Why I Recommend It

This training is a deeply enriching experience for personal growth and transformation. If you’ve ever felt tension in relationships or struggled to connect with others, I strongly recommend this course. It’s not just about resolving conflict—it’s about evolving into a more conscious and compassionate version of yourself. I genuinely believe that as individuals transform, so does the world around them. That’s a vision worth investing in.

Peace and Conflict Transformation Training 2024/2025

I am a Rwandese who stays in Kenya, I am a Christian, married to Rev. Ndagijimana Emmanuel and a mother of four.
We live in a society that is prone to conflict. In most cases, conflict is unavoidable because where there are two or more people together; conflict gets in without being welcomed.
My journey throughought the training was not smooth, because sometimes I could miss some sessions because of black out. But with the recordings I could get a chance of following what happened that day.
I learnt a lot from our able trainers: Liz, Dr. Celestin Musekura, Jean Bosco, Berdine and Carole. Our coordinator Mr. Oscar Chavez did his work wonderfully. I learnt how to become a servant leader, the levels of conflicts, and five conflict management styles among others. I learnt to use ‘Mediation’ while handling conflicts. With it, I help many to live in peace. (Romans 12: 18)
With that training, I have grown and become a peacemaker who knows better to transform conflicts to peace. Using the knowledge I gained, I am able to handle conflicts referring to what my trainers made clear to me.
I congratulate all those who made it possible to have that wonderful training. Peacemakers are needed worldwide: in Mali, Haiti, Ukraine, Israel, Russia, Congo and where innocent people are dying because of wars and conflicts. Therefore, there is need for more peacemakers to be trained, because no peace no development!

Peace and Conflict Transformation Training 2024/2025

Looking back on the eight months of training together, here are some reflections that I would like to share.

While all of this training, with the exception of the final weekend, was carried out online via Zoom, we felt like we were together, across several countries and even continents, and became a group. The final weekend, face-to-face in Brussels, was a wonderful conclusion, during which we got to know each other better. In addition, it was a blessing to share that weekend with the French speaking group, who after all had been following the same objectives in their training.

As a result of this training, I have become more aware of the thoughts and feelings of people — myself included — these are often not expressed, but I am learning to read them a little bit better. It has meant that I give people more benefit of the doubt and try to find out what their background and motivation might be. Staying patient, rather than reacting in an angry or negative way (or sometimes in an over positive way). This is not always easy, but the training is guiding me in the right direction.

I have also learned not to get involved too easily in matters that are not necessarily my concern, but to keep an attitude of observation and possibly curiosity, rather than stepping in rashly.

Listening attentively and summarising has been an excellent lesson. In a recent encounter, I was unexpectedly confronted by a disturbing story of confrontation within an established team, and although I was not asked to mediate or to give my view, I took time to listen to the person about what was happening, and this gave her some relief.

I am also aware of calibrating my responses in such a way that the person I am speaking to would understand what I am trying to say. In other words, to use language that is empathetic and tailored to my linguistic capacity and that of the person concerned.

The learning of the course is staying with me and often comes to mind when I am in a situation of interacting with others. I have never been asked to mediate, and am unlikely to be asked to do this, but perhaps by peaceful living and peaceful interaction with others, I can create an atmosphere of peace in my immediate surroundings.

I wish to thank Jean Bosco, Oscar and Eric of Holy Trinity Brussels, and m our tutors and mentors, with whom we interacted in the course of these months. All of them created a peaceful and friendly atmosphere among us and encouraged us to learn and to think and practice what we had understood. I have recommended the course to several other people in the meantime, and am so happy that it is continuing and spreading peace in an ever wider area. God bless you as you continue to bring peace and goodwill to many others!

I attended the first batch of the training among some waves of COVID so it was exclusively held online and both French and English groups were attending the same sessions. I also attended with my wife, therefore becoming the first couple to participate! I loved it so much that, firstly, I immediately joined the association created for the group by Reverend Jean Bosco and since 2024 I took the responsibility of coordinating the English speaking groups.

The eye opener for me was to see how the conflicts exist everywhere and how your own culture or even body language can make the fights start – what might seem very normal to you can be very insulting to someone else. The training gives you all the tools to know how to react to conflict, how to understand the roots of the conflict, what to say and most importantly what not to say in order to help defuse the issues.

The fact that you can share, comment on everyone’s else stories, role play for 80 hours in a totally confidential group surrounded by professional trainers makes the experience worthwhile. The old students are also happy to come back and participate in new activities as new topics are regularly proposed.

I encourage everyone to register and give it a chance as it will become certainly a life changing moment for you!
